Pellet extruder 3d printing

New Revision Pellet Extruder

Bravo! Our latest Pellet extruder. This revision has been driven from feedback through our Beta test program. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved with this process and appreciate it.

What has changed?

 A lot! where to begin?

  • The basic form factor had to change enabling a  smaller form factor. This has made a more adaptable extruder to CoreXY systems.
  • Feeder and Hopper we have redesigned the feeding and hopper systems reducing and even eliminating the risk of blockages with non-uniform feedstock.
  • 2 Bolt removal of hopper for faster changing of materials and servicing. this is a huge time saver if you are wanting to swap materials or check the state of material feeding into the system. this upgrade also allows us to make hoppers of different sizes and for different purposes.
  • We are near the finalization of a remote pellet feed system, this is an action triggered system that will fill a small hopper on the extruder when the level goes low. no more stopping the printer to change filament or to refill a hopper. This can be fed from a large vat, in theory allowing infinite printing!
  • Materials and cooling, with our new design we have been able to print up in the 320°C ranges opening our system up to newer exotic materials.
  • Added and newer stronger heat shield this removes the effect of the extruder moving around in cool air stopping it from cooling down the barrel. (CAUTION! this is a hot part of the Extruder)
  • The nozzle of your choice! we now have production nozzle adapters for MK8 and MK10 Nozzles. We are also in the works for custom nozzles enabling higher flowrates and increasing thermal conductivity.

Cost reduction

Through this process, we have developed great relationships with our suppliers of components we cannot manufacture in house.

This in turn has allowed us to reduce our production costs and will enable us to pass this on in the RRP of our new extruder.

More information and photos

None of us at Polylab wouldn't pretend to be photographers, we are waiting to get some nice shots of our new system. But as we were too excited to share our new revision we pushed ahead!
